If you ever find yourself driving down SC-107 on a dark and dreary night, you might just pick up a phantasmic passenger.

Wahalla's Hitchhiker
The hitchhiking ghost is a popular local legend in Wahalla, South Carolina. The story goes that in the 1950s an amateur pilot named Larry Stevens took off in his plane from Greenville but encountered a pop-up storm before he could reach the mountains. Unfortunately, this storm caused the plane to crash, killing Larry. Debris from the crash was found all along a stretch of SC-107.
Now it's said that people who drive down this stretch of road any night it's foggy or rainy may encounter a ghostly hitchhiker wearing a black mack and dirtied rainboots. He will ask to be dropped off at the edge of where the plane's wreckage was found. People claim that if you give him a ride, he will disappear as soon as he reaches his destination leaving behind his seat in the car slightly wet from his rain-soaked body.
